2023 Silverado 1500 Powertrain Options

The 2023 Chevy Silverado is offered with four different engine options:

• A 2.7L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft. of torque
• A 5.3L V8 that’s rated at 355 hp and 383 lb-ft. of torque
• A 6.2L V8 engine delivering 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. of torque
• New for the 2023 Silverado, a 3.0L inline-6 turbodiesel Duramax engine capable of 305 hp and 495 lb-ft. of torque

The base engine is matched to GM’s eight-speed automatic transmission, while the others are yoked to a 10-speed automatic that smoothly balances speed and power moment-to-moment as you drive.

New Chevy Silverado 1500 Towing Capabilities

Whatever Silverado you choose, you’ll get great towing capability and an incredible max trailer weight rating. Even the base trim of the new Silverado can tow up to 9,500 pounds, which is plenty for most jobs!

If you’ve really got a lot of weight to pull, though, you’ll want to go for either the 6.2L V8 or Turbodiesel engine. These beasts top out at 13,300 pounds max trailer weight, which lets you get more done than ever before!

If you need a gooseneck or fifth wheel hitch, you can expect max trailer weights of up to 10,000 pounds. That’s perfect for a small camper or pair of jet skis!
